As anyone who has ever hosted a holiday event knows, that which seems simple in theory is often far more complicated in practice. Here are some pointers that can make your Tokesgiving the best one yet, whether it's your first celebration of THCsgiving or long-standing tradition.
Keep THC Tolerance in mind
Whether you're supplying yourself or a whole party, the first thing you should consider is your own tolerance, and if you have guests, what theirs may be as well.
Someone who only smokes occasionally or a weekend treat is going to have a very low tolerance compared to a daily smoker, or someone who regularly consumes high-potency THC products.
Offer a variety of products with low to high potency, or choose a versatile product who’s potency can easily and reliably be manipulated through dosage
For Others:
If you're hosting Tokesgiving or simply supplying some extra party favors, it's a good idea to provide options that allow users to control their dose (or even microdose, for the curious but cannabis-nervous!) so that guests of all THC tolerances can reach their prime fade. Here are some tips to keep in mind:
1. If children are present, products must remain in their childproof containers for safety reasons.
2. At all-adult gatherings, products are sometimes placed in or on serving dishes, platters, or trays -- to avoid any dosage-mishaps ensure that all servings are clearly labeled as THC-containing Treats with the accurate product potency as well.
3. Be mindful when using labels that can easily shift, fall, or end up getting switched or swapped by well-meaning (or mischeivous!) guests.

For Yourself:
If you're looking to get more faded than usual, purchase extra quantity of products you're already familiar with and increase your dose incrementally to avoid being unpleasantly surprised by increased effects.
A common mistake is to choose a stronger version of a product that has a higher level of THC than what you normally use--doing this can make it hard to gauge how much of the product should be consumed for the desired effects.
For example, switching from flower to concentrate, or doubling your regular edible dose, or even switching consumption styles (ie; going from vape usage to bong rips) can produce a higher intensity of effect than anticipated which can be disorienting for some cannabis users.
Other cannabis users may enjoy the experience of a more potent high, in which case, a higher level or THC or a change in consumption method is a great way to reach that next-level fade.
Edibles: Edibles are a great option because they come in 10mg or less portions, which allows guests to microdose if they need to, or easily calculate and maintain their perfect THC dosage. They definitely fit with the holiday and look super cute on adult charcuterie spreads (just don't forget to label which snacks are THC-filled or not!)
Beverages: Cannabis beverages come in single serving and shareable sizes. For those who are more familiar with spending their Thanksgiving with a drink in their hand rather than a joint, canned beverages make an easy transition. There are also single-serve shots, or larger, more decorative bottles of liquid cannabis tincture that can be poured into shot glasses or mixed into beautiful and delicious Canna-cocktails.
Flower: If you're providing smokeware (ie; rolling papers, pipes, bongs, etc) flower is a both an economic and highly customizable way for your guests to smoke. You can save big by purchasing quads (7g), half-ounces (14g), and ounces (28g).

Vape: Vapes are discreet and can even be used indoors without leaving a lingering smell. They're a fabulous choice for shared spaces, or if you're celebrating in an apartment, have nosy neighbors, or have that-one-relative who is still skeptical of recreational cannabis. And if it's a little too chilly to enjoy smoking outside, with a vape you can dose your THC without even getting off the couch!
Keep Desired Effects in mind
There are many different strains and forms of cannabis, as well as various cannabinoid compounds. Here's a quick rundown of each so you can enjoy your Tokesgiving your way.
Strain Types
Indica: Indica strains are known for producing 'heavy', sedative body highs and powerful munchies. If you're looking to sit down and chow down, an Indica strain will suit your needs. Indicas are known for reducing anxiety and inducing a peaceful state of mind, which may have the effect of making you feel content to chat less and simply enjoy your surroundings. While some cannabis users may feel ‘lazy’ when smoking powerful indicas, those who tend to feel stress around holidays and gatherings may find an Indica is just what they need to settle down and enjoy the main event.
Sativa: Sativas are known for their cerebral effects. This means they often give a powerful sensation of being 'high' (also referred to as a strong head change) without the sedative, relaxing effects of an indica. While some Sativas impart munchies, they are less guaranteed to do so than most Indica strains. The benefit of a Sativa is that you can enjoy your fade while remaining active and conversational. If you want to stay alert while you catch up with friends and family, a Sativa strain will likely suit your needs.
Caution:
If you do not regularly smoke Sativas, you may want to start slow and build up your effects. Some users report that Sativas feel much more psychoactive than Indicas because of their lack of sedating effects to accompany the THC high.
Hybrids: For seasoned smokers, Hybrids often pack the multifaceted punch that pure-strains just can't dish out. For inexperienced smokers, picking the right hybrid strain can provide the perfectly balanced effects that they are looking for. However, there's a caveat to choosing the right Hybrids: a Hybrid flower can be a crossing of primarily Indica lineages, primarily Sativa lineages, or mixed Indica and Sativa lineages.
You can read the product description or Google a strain name to find out the strain background, and whether it leans toward Indica-dominance, Sativa-dominance, or a balanced 50/50 effect.
Cannabinoid Types
THC: THC, also known in forms such as THC-A or Delta-8 or Delta-9 THC, is the psychoactive component of the flower that imparts the "high". Edibles that are THC-only will often provide the strongest effects (with the caveat that a small percentage of CBD such as 0.5% often enhances the effects of THC)
CBD: CBD is a non-psychoactive component of cannabis that promotes sleep, relaxation, and anxiety and pain-relief in many users. Products that are 100% CBD (and lack THC) will NOT impart a feeling of being "high", although they may help you relax and drift off to dreamland all the same. It is common to see CBD paired with THC in dosages of 1:1 (equal amounts of THC and CBD), 2:1 (twice the amount of THC as CBD), etc…
CBN: CBN is one of the lesser known compounds of cannabis. It is a mildly-psychoactive compound that can be best understood as a 'lighter version' of THC; it is currently considered to be about 1/4 as psychoactive as THC. CBN is also touted as the sleep-inducing cannabinoid, so be prepared for heavy eyelids if you choose to use a CBN product.
Full Spectrum: This is a term you may see on some products, especially concentrates, vape oils, and distillates. While some extractions and concentrates are pure THC extractions, or specific blends of cannabinoids (like THC:CBD, or CBD:CBN) a Full Spectrum product contains the full range of cannabinoids that naturally occur in the flower of a given strain.
Why is this important?
Because cannabinoids work together and "activate" one another in ways that science doesn't fully understand yet, a full-spectrum product often gives more powerful effects than a single-or-dual-cannabinoid product of the same potency.
This means that if two vape carts are each 80% THC but one is Full Spectrum while the other is a THC-only extraction, the Full Spectrum vape will give more powerful effects than the THC-only extraction.
Note about Blended Products:
Always check the label before purchasing a blend (a product featuring two or more cannabis compounds such as THC, CBD, or CBN) as the specific milligrams of each compound that is present will be listed and varies by product.For example, a 2:1 product could have 200mg of THC and 100mg of CBD, or it could have 50mg of THC and 25mg of CBD -- the product label will tell you exactly how much is in the given product.
