Empower Women, Period.

ASHE partners with Yummi Karma to help local women in need—donate a box of tampons or pads and receive a 300mg THC Tincture $1!

Let’s just kick it right off: Did you know that tampons and other menstrual products are taxed as a luxury product?

Just let that sit with you for a moment. Beyond the fact that a week of pain, blood, depression, and hormonal symptoms like bloating, cold-sweats is obviously no vacation, just consider the idea of a tampon being a luxury good for a moment:

Is it a luxury to go to work without bleeding through your clothing, anything you touch, all of the financial and social consequences that go along with that? Is it a luxury to be able to go out into public every day of the month as you need or please, rather than being confined to your home a week out of every month?

Is it a luxury to use a product created specifically for the purpose of handling a bodily function that is within no one’s control, (and frankly that nobody asked for)—versus crude, messy, and inefficient (read: leaky) home solutions, like cut up rags and toilet paper lined undies? Is it a luxury to wake up on a mattress that hasn’t been soaked in blood overnight? Is it a luxury to spend 1/4th of all your reproductive years bleeding and in pain?

The answer is a resounding ‘NO’. A period isn’t a choice and menstrual products aren’t a luxury. Period.

But why talk about this now? Why ASHE?

Well, for one thing, ASHE Society is a woman-led company that believes in giving back to its community. And Yummi Karma is also a female-founded and led company which believes in giving back to its community. It’s like a perfect match!

And not only that, with their social mission aside, Yummi Karma’s tinctures stand on their own as fabulous cannabis products. They’re made from full-spectrum cannabis, use all natural flavors, are vegan and gluten free, and they absolutely slap!

Finally, for the past three years, Yummi Karma has run this campaign which focuses on aiding low-income and distressed women. Last year, they raised $10,000 for local women.

And this year, we can all help them beat that.

Many people don’t realize that access to menstrual products is a basic need. Equally, many people don’t realize that for tens of thousands of women—typically those that are already economically disadvantaged—it’s an unmeetable need; something they cannot access due to cost or circumstance. Its an aspect of our society that goes largely unseen and unspoken about, but it’s by no means contained to our country or culture. In fact, in countries where most women cannot access menstrual care, the socioeconomic effects are far more stark. There’s an established term for this lack of access and the repercussions of it: Period Poverty.

We encourage you to explore this topic more on your own if you’re curious, but let’s shift gears and talk about what Yummi Karma is doing to help for a moment. This effort is aimed at reaching over $10,000 in donations and over 20,000 individual pad and tampon donations, to be distributed to local women in need.

Now that’s ambitious—and that’s why Yummi Karma is willing to scoot some goodies your way if you’ll kindly help by donating a box of pads or tampons. Normally retailing at $30, Mood Magic is a 300mg THC Tincture which combines the benefits of herbal remedies with THC. Each customer that donates a box of pads or tampons will receive a bottle of their own to take home (And yes! You can DEFINITELY still use this product if you are a man—skip to the product feature below to learn about all the benefits the ingredients within provide.)

If you sit down and do the math, you’ll realize that there’s thousands and thousands of dollars worth of product that Yummi Karma has slapped down on the table in a pledge to drive donations and raise awareness—not to mention that they’re doing their own part behind the scenes as well. And if this is the first time you’ve heard of ‘Period Poverty’, then you know first hand that there aren’t a whole lot of voices dedicating to raising awareness to this issue; it’s important work they’re doing.

Now, let’s talk about this magical product! Remember, all you need to do to receive a vial of Mood Magic for yourself is donate a box of pads or tampons.

Mood Magic

300 MG THC

Maca Root | Raspberry Leaf
Eleuthero Root | Dandelion Root

Mood Magic is a tincture with benefits. Beyond the fact that it packs 300mg of THC (that’s about 10mg per 1ml of suspension), it’s fortified with Maca Root, Raspberry Leaf, Eleuthero Root, and Dandelion Root. Read on to learn about the most popular benefits accredited to these herbal tonics.

Maca Root
Maca Root is considered a superfood with known benefits for both men and women. It is thought to have an adaptogenic effect and to act on hormone regulation and primarily enhances the mood and sexual health. It’s been known to enhance libido, fertility, even regulate menopause and erectile dysfunction. In Peru, where it comes from, it’s been long viewed as a way to increase performance and endurance.
When it’s that time of the month, Maca Root can help lessen the effects of hormonal dips by essentially smoothing out the hormonal rollercoaster. It’s considered a mood enhancer, and if PMS regularly plagues you, you’ll love the relief of feeling ‘normal’, you know, like the other three weeks of the month.

Raspberry Leaf
Raspberry Leaf is a supplement known for its antioxidant benefits. It provides protection against free radicals and has highly-touted anti-inflammatory properties. As inflammation is the leading cause of cell aging and death, we could all use a little more anti-inflammatory action in our lives. It’s an anti-diarrheal and is used to help with motion sickness and other digestive disorders. It is also thought to enhance lipid (fat) metabolization. You can even apply it topically to the skin or mouth to reduce inflammation on site.
For ladies, this leaf has been used for thousands of years to cure cramps, and ease and speed up labor and delivery. While research is still being done on the many beneficial claims to fame of Raspberry Leaf, you don’t have to look far to find someone who can give you an anecdotal account of how it helped them.
On top of all of this, it’s so tasty that it’s often used as a natural flavoring in day-to-day products. Yummi!

Eleuthero Root
Also known as Siberian Ginseng, Eleuthero root is known for imparting energy and reducing fatigue. Importantly, those are two different effects, and if you’ve ever had a few too many coffees and too little hours of sleep, you know uncomfortable and unproductive it is to have energy when your body and mind are exhausted. It has a list of other incredible benefits, like improving cognitive function (bye, brain fog!) through increasing circulation to the brain, and improving immune response and wound-healing through a similar mechanism. It enhances your workout by actually allowing your muscles to perform better under high levels of physical strain, and its been shown to lower blood sugar levels as well as prevent or reverse nerve damage. Unbelievable!
Around the time of your period, you’ll certainly appreciate the mental clarity it will help provide, as hormone spikes notoriously make us feel hazy. Not only that, it enhances lymphatic function, translation: it helps to prevent your body from retaining water, so you can fit into your fave jeans just like the rest of the month, no discomfort added.

Dandelion Root
Dandelion root is bursting with antioxidants and many macronutrients that all of us tend to be a little low on these days. Namely, choline, potassium, magnesium, zinc, and iron—nutrients that you typically have to eat a whole bunch of dark leafy greens to cash in on. A number of studies have shown that Dandelion Root may be effective in preventing cancer or killing cancerous cells for various forms of cancers, like leukemia, breast, prostate, liver, pancreatic, esophageal, and colon cancer. If that’s not enough, it’s also known to regulate cholesterol and lower high blood pressure. It’s antibacterial, showing effectiveness against staph infections and foodborne illnesses, and supports liver and kidney health. One study even showed that it may protect liver cells against the effects of alcohol toxicity.
For us ladies (and gentlemen too, to be fair!) it’s known as a big-time bloat buster. So if you tend to go up two pant sizes when you PMS, sis, grab some dandelion root. It’s also known to support skin health, and coupled with its antibacterial effects can help reduce the appearance and severity of acne breakouts around your time of the month.
