FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is ASHE Society a licensed dispensary?

Yes, ASHE Society has three licensed retail stores in Southern California. Each store is permitted by the State of California’s Department of Cannabis Control (DCC) under license number C10-0000436-LIC, C10-00001116-LIC and C12-0000504-LIC. Since 2020, ASHE has been selling licensed, lab-tested, and regulated cannabis products. We currently have stores in the cities of Santa Ana, San Bernardino and Pomona.

Per DCC guidelines, you should be able to locate a state-issued QR code posted at the front entrance to verify that you’re shopping at a licensed dispensary. If you are shopping at a dispensary without a valid license number from the DCC, you are shopping at a black market dispensary.

What are the COVID-19 protocols at ASHE?

ASHE is dedicated to keeping our team and community safe and healthy during these times. We are grateful to be considered an essential business and to continue serving our community. Masks are preferred but not required at this time. To reduce the spread of COVID-19 or any COVID-variant flu, we take protective measures by offering our employees COVID-19 tests and constantly cleaning and disinfecting surfaces. We also periodically hire a 3rd party to do deep cleaning and sanitizing during our non-operation hours.

How much cannabis can I purchase?

Under the Department of Cannabis Control’s regulations, a licensed retailer (such as ASHE Society) shall not sell more than the following amounts to a single adult-use cannabis customer in a single day:

  • 28.5 grams of non-concentrated cannabis

  • 8 grams of cannabis concentrate, including cannabis concentrate contained in cannabis products

  • 6 immature cannabis plants.

The daily limits for a single medicinal cannabis patient (or a patient's primary caregiver purchasing medicinal cannabis on behalf of the patient) are different. In a single day, a patient can purchase:

  • 8 ounces of medicinal cannabis in the form of dried mature flowers

  • 12 immature cannabis plants

Do I need to be a medical marijuana patient to shop at ASHE?

No. ASHE is a licensed adult-use retailer and can sell to adults who are 21 & over. We are also authorized to offer medical patients who are 18 & over to purchase with a valid MMIC (medical marijuana identification card) or a doctor’s recommendation to shop at any of our ASHE stores.

Do you accept customers from out-of-state?

Yes! ASHE accepts any valid U.S. government-issued photo identification. If the identification is expired, it is considered invalid. Customers from foreign countries must use their passports for identification.

How can I see which products are currently in stock at ASHE?

Please visit our menu page for more information on the products that we offer. All items are subject to availability.

Is tax included in the product price?

No. To offer transparency to our customers, we list all taxes on the receipt including CA sales tax, city cannabis tax and state excise tax. Each city has different tax rates and ASHE has no control over the rates. All cannabis and cannabis products are subject to the California Cannabis Excise Tax of 15%.

California Sales Tax varies by city:

  • Santa Ana: 9.25%

  • Pomona: 10.25%

  • San Bernardino: 8.75%

Cannabis City Tax:

  • Santa Ana: 7%

  • Pomona: 6.75%

  • San Bernardino: 4%

What determines the tax prices in the final sales price?

ASHE has zero control over these tax amounts, and 100% of the taxes are collected to be submitted to the California Department of Tax Fee & Administration and the local city government. Please note that these tax rates are pre-determined by the city and state governments. All cannabis and cannabis products are subject to a 15% California Cannabis Excise Tax that will be included in the final sales price.

In the City of Santa Ana, licensed cannabis retailers are also required to collect local cannabis tax of 7% on all cannabis and cannabis products, in addition to the California sales tax of 9.25%.

In the City of San Bernardino, licensed cannabis retailers are also required to collect local cannabis tax of 4% on all cannabis and cannabis products, in addition to the California sales tax of 9.75%.

In the City of Pomona, licensed cannabis retailers are also required to collect local cannabis tax of 6.75% on all cannabis and cannabis products, in addition to the California sales tax of 10.25%.

What is going on with taxes? Why is my final total so expensive?

After you receive the subtotal for the cannabis products that you choose to purchase, you will need to pay three different tax rates, including city tax, sales tax, and excise tax.

Here is an example of what your final total on your receipt looks like when you are shopping at our Santa Ana store:

Subtotal:                                  $29.00

Santa Ana cannabis tax (7%):      $2.03

CA sales tax (9.25%)                   $3.30

Excise tax (15%)                        $4.66

TOTAL                                               $39.00

Cannabis taxes are calculated at checkout. Please note that cannabis taxes in the state of California is compounded. As a result, the tax rates are so high that cannabis customers end up shopping at unlicensed dispensaries to get a better deal. The problem is that there is no way to ensure the products you buy are lab-tested or regulated by the government at black market dispensaries.

ASHE Society does not make money by charging taxes. Every penny that we collect in taxes is handed over to the government because that's how taxes work. If you want to see lower cannabis taxes? Call the Governor's office at (916) 445-2841 or contact your local city officials.

If your payment is not cash, you will be subject to credit or debit card processing fees that are collected by the financial institution. ASHE Society also does not make any money from these fees. We offer these payment methods as a convenience to the customer only.
